Cameron Diaz Interview

Cameras start rolling on Paris soundstages in exactly one month on "Gangs of New York", Martin Scorsese's highly anticipated epic about the turn-of-the-20th-century Irish gangs. Daniel Day-Lewis has occupied the third lead role left vacant by Robert De Niro a few months ago and will join Leonardo DiCaprio and Cameron Diaz.

iFUSE caught up with Diaz in Los Angeles this past weekend. She is preparing for the shoot after recently completing work on "Charlie's Angels", a film she stars in with Lucy Liu and Drew Barrymore (who was also the film's producer).

Cameron expectedly said that the reported problems on the set of "Charlie's Angels" were exaggerated by the media and that, contrary to what's been reported, Barrymore was a fine producer.

"Hey, listen, the film is going to be a lot of fun," Diaz said. "The press never knows what really goes on. A lot of people were just really passionate about making the movie really enjoyable, and there are disagreements, but it wasn't like it was total turmoil.

"Drew is a great producer, really. I think she really held the film together perfectly. Her passion probably kept it from actually getting out of control."

As for "Gangs of New York", Diaz simply said, "Yeah, this is major, and I'm excited but not really nervous. It's a total honor to work with Martin Scorsese, and it's such a great, amazing script. ...A lot of great actors are going to be there. So I feel like there's nothing to be nervous about."

Diaz said that Scorsese's passion and excitement is contagious.

"He's funny, he's excited -- it just makes you feel your going to be a part of this really amazing thing," she said.

As for DiCaprio, she said they've met a few times to discuss the film, and that she's totally comfortable with him. "He's just a unique actor, and the hype is something else. I'm really happy to share this experience with him -- I kind of can't wait."

And that, in the end, is why Harvey is Happy.
